A beautiful project done in a watercolor and cold-pressed paper aesthetic. This project told the story of auto-antibodies in myasthenia gravis, and the multiple ways in which they damage neuromuscular synaptic junctions.

One of my favorite shots, starting with an overhead view of a neuromuscular junction in action. Then flying down to view the junction in cross section.
Here we see an auto-antibody linking two receptors, leading to the whole group of them becoming integrated into the cell. This in turn joins with a lysosome resulting in digestion of antibody and receptors.
This shot was particularly fun as a collaboration. The cell surfaces were animated by my colleague, and then I animated the antibody, lipids, and receptors on top of their animation.
